BEAMBOX EVOLUTION R-I PICO PROJECTOR 260 www.beambox.co.uk
WHAT IS IT? A pocket-sized projector that you can use to beam Batman, or most other footage you care for, onto a wall or flat surface simply by whipping it out of your own gadget utility-belt. Unlike other micro-sized, or “pico”, projectors, which feature similar technology, the Evolution R-1 boasts 1GB of built-in memory (enough for more than one feature-length film) so you need not connect it to a phone or laptop. The Beambox also has an SD memory-card slot and a tiny built-in speaker.
SHOULD I BUY ONE? This innovative gizmo promises to be three times brighter than its rivals, with a higher image resolution, and the maker says it can unleash 100in-wide footage. Most pico projectors struggle to deliver more than 70in and few perform well except in dark conditions, which reduces their allure for PowerPoint action. Even the stated battery life of 90 minutes wouldn’t last to the end of most movies, but for showing your holiday footage to friends in the pub, it’s hard to beat. It goes on sale next month.

Filskit Theatre Company
Filskit Theatre Company, bought two of our Evolution R-1 projectors to use in their productions.
Filskit Theatre is an ensemble of four female performers. Their aim is to ignite the imagination of a modern audience. Our work is based on an investigation into the interaction between the live performer and the recorded image and how the human body can be used as a canvas for the projection of images.
By using our projectors they were able to create the different scenes they needed, without the need for a large conventional projector, meaning they could easily take the projector to any show they would need.
